Program Overview
The aim of this study is to determine if stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is a successful treatment option for patients who have been newly diagnosed with brain metastases resulting from small cell lung cancer (SCLC).
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Diagnosed with small cell lung cancer.
- Have up to 10 brain tumors as seen on a special MRI scan.
- Aged 18 years or older.
- In good enough health to perform daily activities, with a performance status score between 60 and 100 on the KPS scale or 0 to 2 on the ECOG scale.
- Female participants must either not be able to become pregnant or have a negative pregnancy test before joining the study.
- Able to give informed consent, or have a legally authorized representative who can do so.
Exclusion Criteria
- Cannot have an MRI scan with contrast dye for the brain or spine.
- Have cancer spread to the lining of the brain or spinal cord, confirmed by specific tests.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women cannot participate.
- Have had previous radiation treatment directed at the brain.
- Have uncontrolled disease elsewhere in the body that is likely to lead to death within three months, as shown by recent CT or PET/CT scans.
