Program Overview
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether combining immunotherapy with radiotherapy can effectively treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has either spread or come back after initial treatment. Researchers are testing this combination to see if it can improve patient outcomes compared to standard treatments alone.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Have a confirmed diagnosis of metastatic or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has progressed after previous immunotherapy.
- Be eligible for standard treatment with immunotherapy or chemotherapy.
- Have at least one tumor that can be measured by scans and is suitable for a specific type of radiation treatment.
- Have received exactly one prior treatment with anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1 therapy, either alone or in combination with other treatments.
- Be 18 years or older.
- Have a performance status score of 0 to 2, indicating full activity or some restriction in strenuous activities.
- Be able to safely receive the study treatment and standard care as determined by the doctor.
- Have brain metastases that do not require immediate treatment.
- Agree to use effective birth control during the study and for three months after treatment.
- Understand and agree to sign a consent form to participate in the study.
Exclusion Criteria
- Have a history of lung inflammation requiring steroid treatment.
- Have interstitial lung disease.
- Have uncontrolled medical conditions.
- Be pregnant or breastfeeding, as the treatments may harm the baby.
- Have received prior radiation to the planned treatment areas.
- Have tumors in areas where radiation cannot be safely delivered, such as the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, or spinal cord.
