Cord Blood Transplantation for Children and Young Adults with Blood Cancer

Inclusion Criteria

• Children and young adults aged 0-26 years with specific types of blood cancer.
• No suitable matched donor available within 4 weeks.
• Diagnosed with high-risk blood cancers like acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), or certain types of lymphoma.
• Cancer must be in remission or have specific high-risk features.
• Must have good organ function and overall health.
• Not pregnant or nursing.
• Willing to use effective birth control if of childbearing potential.
• Meet specific blood and organ function criteria, such as liver and kidney function tests.
• Must have a performance score indicating good physical health.
• Provide informed consent to participate in the study.

Exclusion Criteria

• Poor overall health or organ function.
• Active leukemia in the central nervous system.
• Large chloroma (a type of tumor) over 2 cm.
• Active and uncontrolled infections.
• HIV or HTLV-1 infection.
• Pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Unable to provide informed consent or follow the study protocol.
• Recent allogeneic transplant within the last 4 months for very high-risk patients.
• Active hepatitis B or C infection unless under control or treated.
• Recent use of certain immune therapies may require discussion with the study lead.
