Study on New Imaging Technique for Detecting Metastatic Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer

This clinical trial is testing a new imaging method using F-18 FAP PET scans to see if it can better detect metastatic invasive lobular breast cancer compared to the standard FDG PET scans. The study involves 15 patients who will undergo both types of scans to compare their effectiveness.

Program Overview

The purpose of this study is to compare a new imaging technique, called 18F-FAPI-74 PET/CT, with the standard 18F-FDG PET/CT scan in detecting metastatic invasive lobular breast cancer. Fifteen patients will participate in this trial, undergoing both scans within a two-week period. The study aims to see which scan is better at detecting cancer lesions and how useful the scans are from both the doctor's and the patient's perspective.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Must provide signed consent to participate.
  • Willing to follow all study procedures and be available for the entire study duration.
  • Female participants over 18 years old.
  • Diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.
  • In good general health with an ECOG performance status of 0 to 2.
  • No planned changes in cancer treatment between the two PET scans.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Cannot participate if pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Unable to undergo PET/CT scans.
  • Have high levels of bilirubin or creatinine in the blood, more than 1.5 times the normal limit.
