Program Overview

The aim of this study is to find out if using durvalumab together with cetuximab can better treat head and neck cancer that has come back or spread, compared to using either drug alone. Participants will receive both medications to evaluate their effectiveness and any side effects.

Description

This research is focused on determining whether the combination of durvalumab and cetuximab is more effective in treating recurrent or metastatic head and neck cancer than using each drug separately. The study will also monitor any side effects that may occur from using these drugs together.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Weigh more than 30 kg (about 66 pounds).
  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma that has come back or spread.
  • Not be eligible for other treatments that could cure the cancer, such as surgery or radiation.
  • Have cancer that has worsened after receiving a platinum-based chemotherapy treatment.
  • Be in relatively good health, with an ECOG performance status score between 0 and 2, meaning fully active or restricted in physically strenuous activity but ambulatory.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Have tumors in the nasopharynx or salivary glands.
  • Have previously been treated with both immunotherapy drugs and cetuximab. However, having been treated with either immunotherapy or cetuximab alone is allowed.
