Program Overview
The aim of this study is to find out if Proton Therapy can help reduce the amount of radiation that affects the healthy tissues surrounding anal cancer. By doing so, the study hopes to decrease the side effects that patients typically experience with standard radiation therapy.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Have a Karnofsky Performance Status score greater than 70%, indicating good overall health.
- Diagnosed with squamous or basaloid carcinoma of the anal canal, confirmed by lab tests.
- Have stage T2-4 anal cancer, which means the cancer is of a certain size or has spread to nearby areas.
Exclusion Criteria
- Patients who are expected to live less than 3 months.
