Study on Using Hypofractionated Radiotherapy for Treating Soft Tissue Sarcomas

Program Overview

The study is investigating a new radiation treatment approach called hypofractionated radiotherapy for soft tissue sarcomas. This method involves delivering high doses of radiation in fewer sessions, which may help control the tumor while reducing harm to nearby healthy tissues. Due to the rarity and variety of sarcomas, more research is needed to confirm the safety and effectiveness of this treatment. Participants with confirmed soft tissue sarcoma will be monitored for up to 60 months to gather data on the treatment's impact.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of soft tissue sarcoma that cannot be removed by surgery or has spread, and is suitable for hypofractionated radiotherapy.
  • Choose not to have surgery or have been advised that surgery is not an option.
  • Have a Karnofsky performance status score greater than 60, indicating the ability to carry out daily activities with some help.
  • Be able to understand and sign a consent form agreeing to participate in the study.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Are pregnant.
  • Have received chemotherapy or other cancer treatments in the last two weeks.
  • Cannot undergo the necessary imaging or positioning for planning the radiotherapy.
  • Have had previous radiation in the same area that would make the new treatment unsafe, according to the doctor.
