Study on Abemaciclib for Treating Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma

This clinical trial is testing a new drug called Abemaciclib to see if it can help shrink or slow the growth of dedifferentiated liposarcoma, a type of cancer. While Abemaciclib has shown promise in treating other cancers, it is not yet approved for liposarcoma and may have side effects.

Program Overview
The aim of this study is to find out if Abemaciclib can effectively reduce the size of dedifferentiated liposarcoma tumors or slow their growth. Although Abemaciclib is not yet approved for this type of cancer, it has been successful in shrinking tumors in other cancers like breast cancer, lymphoma, and lung cancer. Researchers are looking to see if it can shrink the cancer by at least 25% or delay its growth.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Must have a confirmed diagnosis of dedifferentiated liposarcoma.
- Cancer must be advanced, has spread, or cannot be removed by surgery.
- Must have measurable cancer growth as per specific medical criteria within 6 months before starting the study drug.
- Any number of previous treatments is allowed, but the last treatment must have been at least 2-4 weeks ago, or 6 weeks for certain drugs.
- If there are brain metastases, they must have been treated and stable for at least 3 months.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be in good general health, able to perform daily activities with minimal restrictions.
- Must have adequate blood and organ function based on specific medical tests.
- Must not have another cancer that needs treatment.
- Women and men must agree to use effective birth control during the study. Women must not breastfeed.
- Must be able to understand and sign a consent form.
- Must be able to swallow capsules.
Exclusion Criteria
- Must have recovered from any side effects of previous treatments to a mild level.
- Cannot be taking other experimental drugs.
- Cannot have been treated with a selective CDK4 inhibitor before.
- Cannot have uncontrolled illnesses like active infections, heart failure, or serious heart conditions.
- Cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
