Study Comparing Casdatifan and Cabozantinib with Placebo and Cabozantinib for Advanced Kidney Cancer

This clinical trial is testing whether the combination of casdatifan and cabozantinib is more effective than a placebo with cabozantinib in slowing down the progression of advanced kidney cancer in adults who have already been treated with certain immunotherapies.

Program Overview

The study aims to find out if using casdatifan together with cabozantinib can help patients with advanced clear cell kidney cancer live longer without their disease getting worse, compared to using a placebo with cabozantinib. This trial is for adults whose cancer has progressed after receiving specific immunotherapy treatments.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Have advanced kidney cancer that cannot be removed by surgery and can be measured by scans.
  • Have a Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) score of 80% or higher, indicating good overall health.
  • Have at least one tumor that can be measured by CT or MRI scans and is not in an area that has been treated with radiation.
  • Have good organ and bone marrow function as shown by tests done within 72 hours before starting the study.
  • Women who can become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test before joining the study.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Have previously been treated with a HIF-2α inhibitor or cabozantinib.
  • Have had another active cancer within the past year, except for certain types that have been successfully treated.
  • Have severe side effects from previous cancer treatments, or side effects that are Grade 3 or higher according to medical guidelines.
  • Have high blood pressure that is not well controlled, even with more than three medications.
  • Have a history of cancer spreading to the brain or spinal cord.
