Program Overview
The study is investigating a treatment method for stomach cancer that involves surgery to remove as much of the cancer as possible, followed by a special type of chemotherapy that is heated and applied directly inside the abdomen. This approach is being tested in patients whose cancer has spread to the abdominal lining but not to other organs.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Have a performance status that allows for daily activities with some limitations.
- Have a confirmed diagnosis of stomach or gastroesophageal junction cancer.
- Have adequate kidney and bone marrow function, as shown by specific blood test results.
- Cancer must be limited to the abdominal lining, either detected by positive peritoneal cytology or seen during a diagnostic procedure.
Exclusion Criteria
- Cancer that has spread to other organs like the liver, brain, or lungs.
- Have infections that would prevent participation in the study.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who do not agree to use effective birth control.
- Have serious heart conditions like unstable angina or severe heart failure.
- Unable to follow the study procedures or attend follow-up visits.
- Have severe allergic reactions to the chemotherapy used in the study.
