The aim of this study is to see if a 5-day radiotherapy treatment can effectively treat soft tissue sarcoma in the arms, legs, or trunk while preserving healthy tissue. Researchers want to find out if this approach can prevent the cancer from spreading to other parts of the body. Participants will undergo a series of treatments and follow-up visits, with the study concluding after a check-up six months post-surgery.
Description
This clinical trial is for people diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma in their arms, legs, or trunk (the chest, abdomen, and pelvis area). The study is testing a 5-day radiotherapy treatment to see if it can effectively treat the cancer while protecting the surrounding healthy tissue. The goal is to stop the cancer from spreading to other areas of the body. Participants will be involved in about 12 visits, including a follow-up visit six months after surgery, to monitor early side effects and the effectiveness of the treatment.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Willing to sign a consent form to participate.
- Diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma in the arms, legs, or trunk.
- Aged 18 years or older.
- In good enough health to receive radiotherapy, with an ECOG performance status of 0 to 3.
- Eligible for surgery to remove the cancer.
- Facing challenges that make a longer, 5-week radiotherapy course difficult, such as concerns about cancer progression, travel difficulties, or financial burdens.
Exclusion Criteria
- Cancer has spread to distant parts of the body.
- Previously had radiation therapy in the area to be treated.
- Receiving treatment for another type of cancer at the same time.
- Pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the radiation therapy period.
- Planning to receive chemotherapy at the same time as radiation therapy.
