Study on Using a Blood Test to Predict Treatment Response and Detect Remaining Cancer in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

This clinical trial is exploring whether a blood test called circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) can help predict how well patients with non-small cell lung cancer will respond to treatment and if any cancer remains after surgery. The study also examines if the drug pembrolizumab can prevent cancer from returning in certain patients.

Program Overview
The aim of this study is to find out if a blood test called circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) can be used to predict how well patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) will respond to treatment and to check if any cancer is left after surgery. Researchers will also investigate if the drug pembrolizumab can help stop the cancer from coming back in patients who test positive for ctDNA or show signs of cancer after treatment and surgery.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Have a good overall health status, able to carry out normal activities or light work.
- Have a confirmed diagnosis of certain stages of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that can be surgically removed, and are planned to receive treatment before surgery, which may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and sometimes radiation.
- Have cancer that can be measured using standard criteria.
- Must provide a tumor sample for specific testing during the screening period. The sample can be from a recent or past biopsy, but must meet certain requirements for testing.
Exclusion Criteria
- Have cancer that is too advanced to be surgically removed or has spread to other parts of the body.
- Have specific genetic mutations known as EGFR or ALK.
- Have received any cancer treatment or immunosuppressive drugs within three weeks before starting the study treatment.
- Have difficulty making informed decisions.
