Study on Using Pafolacianine Imaging Agent to Identify Tumors in Children and Teens with Solid Tumors

Sponsor: Mayo Clinic

Sponsor score: 60

ClinicalTrials ID:NCT06915727

This clinical trial is testing how well a special imaging agent called pafolacianine can help doctors find cancerous tumors in children and teenagers. The agent is used during surgery to make tumors light up, making them easier to see and remove.

Patient Parameters

Program Overview

The purpose of this study is to see if pafolacianine, a special imaging agent, can help identify cancerous tumors in children and teenagers with solid tumors. Pafolacianine targets certain receptors that are often found in high numbers in cancer cells. During surgery, it is used with a special camera that can see infrared light to make the tumors glow, helping doctors locate and remove them more effectively. This method may be better than other imaging agents for finding cancerous tumors in young patients.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Children and teenagers aged 6 months to 17 years.
  • Must have a diagnosis or strong suspicion of a solid tumor in areas like the neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, or limbs, and be planning to have surgery to remove it.
