Study on Shortened Radiation Therapy for Endometrial Cancer

This clinical trial is exploring whether a shorter course of radiation therapy, called hypofractionation, is safe and effective for women with endometrial cancer. The study aims to find the best dose of this shorter treatment that is both safe and tolerable.

Program Overview
The purpose of this study is to see if a shorter, more intense course of radiation therapy can be safely used to treat women with endometrial cancer. This approach, known as hypofractionation, involves giving slightly higher doses of radiation each day over a shorter period, while still delivering the total amount of radiation needed to effectively treat the cancer.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Diagnosed with primary cervical or uterine cancer.
- Age 18 years or older.
- Cancer has not spread to other parts of the body.
- Must have had surgery to remove the cancer, with no visible cancer left.
- Whole pelvic radiation is recommended, without chemotherapy at the same time.
- Chemotherapy before or after radiation is allowed.
- General health status should be good, with an ECOG score of 0 to 2.
- Able to understand and agree to the study by signing a consent form.
Exclusion Criteria
- Cancer has spread to distant parts of the body.
- Receiving chemotherapy at the same time as the study.
- Visible cancer remains after surgery or at the time of radiation.
- History of certain bowel or connective tissue disorders, or previous pelvic radiation.
- Ongoing severe diarrhea or abdominal pain from previous chemotherapy.
- Recommended to have radiation to the para-aortic lymph nodes.
