The study is exploring a new treatment called RBS2418, which is designed to boost the immune system's ability to fight cancer by protecting certain molecules in the body. Researchers hope that RBS2418 will be safe, well-tolerated, and help reduce tumors in patients with advanced colorectal cancer that has spread and is not responding to other treatments.
Description
In this study, patients who have not responded to standard treatments for advanced colorectal cancer will receive either the new drug RBS2418 or a placebo, along with the best supportive care available. The treatment will be given in 21-day cycles for up to two years, or until the cancer progresses, the patient withdraws, or the study ends. Up to 150 patients will participate.
The study will closely monitor any side effects, which will be recorded and assessed for severity. Serious side effects will be tracked for up to 90 days after treatment ends, or 30 days if the patient starts a new cancer treatment sooner.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Have advanced colorectal cancer that has spread and is not responding to standard treatments, or have declined such treatments.
- Have a confirmed diagnosis of colorectal cancer.
- Be willing to provide a tissue sample before starting the study.
Exclusion Criteria
- Have received any cancer treatment within two weeks before starting the study, unless it was for pain relief or hormone therapy.
- Have rapidly worsening cancer symptoms from previous treatments.
- Have had other cancers within the last three years, unless they are not expected to spread or cause death.
