Study on Green Tea and Quercetin with Chemotherapy for Advanced Prostate Cancer

Program Overview
The purpose of this study is to determine if combining green tea and quercetin with the chemotherapy drug docetaxel can enhance treatment for men with advanced prostate cancer that has spread and is resistant to hormone therapy. The study will also assess the safety of this combination. Researchers will compare the effects of green tea and quercetin with a placebo, alongside docetaxel, to see if the natural products improve the effectiveness of the chemotherapy.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Men aged 18 or older.
- Diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer that has spread.
- Cancer is not responding to hormone therapy or medications like enzalutamide or abiraterone.
- Doctor has decided to start treatment with docetaxel and prednisone.
- Good bone marrow, liver, and kidney function based on specific blood tests.
- Expected to live at least 6 more months.
- Willing to stop consuming other tea products and quercetin supplements during the study, except for those provided by the study.
Exclusion Criteria
- Previous chemotherapy or radiation treatment for cancer that has spread.
- Health conditions that prevent safe use of docetaxel and prednisone.
- Current alcohol abuse.
- Serious medical or mental health issues that could affect participation.
- Allergic reactions to tea, tea products, or quercetin.
- Allergies to many foods or supplements.
