Program Overview
The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a new treatment for HIV-associated lymphoma. It involves using a patient's own blood cells, which are modified to target HIV, after they undergo a stem cell transplant. This approach is being tested to see if it can help treat lymphoma in patients with HIV.
Description
In this study, participants will have a sample of their blood collected and sent to a specialized hospital to create a treatment called HST-NEETs. Before receiving this treatment, participants will undergo a stem cell transplant, which involves preparing the body with a series of chemotherapy drugs. This preparation helps the body accept the new stem cells. The stem cell transplant is done on Day 0 of the treatment schedule.
After the transplant, participants will receive a dose of the HST-NEETs treatment between Days 3 and 7, depending on their health condition. If this timing is not possible, the treatment can be given up to Day 30 after the transplant. Participants will be monitored for at least one year to assess the treatment's effectiveness and any side effects.
Eligibility Criteria
Exclusion Criteria
- Poor overall health with a performance score below 70%.
- Having an HIV subtype other than B.
- Resistance to certain HIV medications like raltegravir or protease inhibitors.
- Recent heart attack or severe heart conditions.
- Uncontrolled infections that are not improving with treatment.
- Active cancer in the central nervous system.
- History of other cancers, except for certain skin or cervical cancers treated successfully over five years ago.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
- Men and women who are fertile and not willing to use birth control during and after the study.
- Previous stem cell transplants or CAR T-cell therapy.
- Evidence of certain blood disorders or abnormal bone marrow tests.
- High doses of steroids.
- Lymphoma affecting the bone marrow at the time of study evaluation.
