Program Overview

This study is designed to test new treatments for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) by using genetic information to guide therapy choices. Participants will be assigned to different sub-studies based on their specific type of AML, with the goal of developing new targeted treatments. There is also a sub-study for patients who do not match any specific genetic markers, ensuring all participants can be included in the research.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Adults aged 60 or older at diagnosis, unless they belong to a specific genetic group where younger patients (18 and older) are allowed.
  • Must be able to understand and sign a consent form.
  • Group A: Patients with newly diagnosed AML who have not received treatment other than hydroxyurea. Patients with 10% to 19% cancer cells in bone marrow or blood can join. Those with 20% or more cancer cells can join if they have had certain prior treatments for related conditions.
  • Group B: Patients with AML that has returned or not responded to treatment. Patients 18 and older with specific genetic changes may join this group.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients with only myeloid sarcoma without AML in blood or bone marrow.
  • Patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia.
  • Patients with AML affecting the central nervous system.
  • Patients with symptoms requiring urgent treatment for blood flow issues.
  • Patients with severe bleeding or clotting problems.
  • Patients unable to give consent or follow the study due to personal or medical reasons.
  • Patients with other serious medical or psychiatric conditions that could interfere with the study.
