Program Overview

The study aims to determine if a shorter, 5-day radiation treatment before surgery is safe and effective for patients with soft tissue sarcoma located in the arms, legs, trunk, or the area behind the abdomen. This approach is different from the standard treatment, which involves radiation over 25 days.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma in the arms, legs, trunk, or behind the abdomen.
  • Offered radiation and surgery as part of standard treatment.
  • Aged 18 or older.
  • In good general health, able to carry out daily activities with some effort.
  • Expected to live at least 6 more months.
  • Women who can have children must have a negative pregnancy test.
  • Able to understand and willing to sign a consent form to participate.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Previously received radiation in the area to be treated.
  • Currently using other experimental cancer treatments.
  • Planning to use chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy at the same time as radiation.
  • Pregnant women are not eligible.
