Program Overview
The purpose of this study is to find out if a treatment using a light-sensitive gel combined with a light source can safely and effectively treat early-stage skin cancer on the face. The main goals are to see how much of the cancer is removed and how many patients have no cancer left after treatment. Participants will need to attend 14 visits and receive two treatments after agreeing to join the study.
Description
In this study, participants will:
- Provide basic personal information like age, gender, and medical history.
- Undergo a medical exam, including a skin check and vital signs.
- Follow study rules, such as avoiding certain medications and treatments.
- Report any new medications or reactions during the study.
- Receive two treatments on the facial skin cancer area using a light-sensitive cream and a light source.
- Allow documentation of the treatment process, including any skin reactions or side effects.
- Undergo surgery to remove the skin cancer area for lab testing.
To join the study, participants must:
- Be 18 years or older.
- Agree to participate and sign a consent form.
- Have a recently diagnosed facial skin cancer that meets size requirements for surgery.
- Be willing to follow study instructions and not use non-approved lotions on the treatment area.
- Allow photographs of the treated skin area.
- If female, not be pregnant and agree to use birth control.
- Confirm they are not allergic to any treatment ingredients.
All surgery samples will be sent to a lab for testing, and photos taken during the study will be used as data. Participants can choose to leave the study at any time.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Have a recently diagnosed facial skin cancer (within six months) that meets size requirements for surgery.
- No other skin diseases in the treatment area.
- Willing to follow study instructions and not use non-approved lotions on the treatment area.
- Agree to sign a consent form.
- Allow photographs of the treated skin area.
- If female, agree to use birth control and not be pregnant during the study.
Exclusion Criteria
- Pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Allergic to any treatment ingredients.
- Lab evidence of other tumors in the biopsy.
- History of the skin cancer returning in the treatment area.
- Other skin diseases or conditions in the treatment area.
- Lab evidence of certain growth patterns in the biopsy.
- Chronic medical conditions that may interfere with the study or affect safety.
