Description

This clinical trial is being conducted at the University of Pennsylvania and involves several locations in the Philadelphia, Lancaster, and South New Jersey areas. It is testing a new radiation therapy called Whole Pelvis Pencil Beam Scanning Proton Radiation (PBS PRT) for treating gynecologic cancers after surgery. The treatment involves delivering radiation doses of 45 or 50.4 Gy in small daily amounts of 1.8 Gy. The aim is to see if this method can effectively treat cancer while monitoring for any side effects, especially those affecting the digestive system.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Diagnosed with cervical or endometrial cancer confirmed by lab tests.
  • Need for additional whole pelvic radiation therapy after surgery, possibly with other treatments.
  • Aged 18 years or older.
  • Able to provide written consent to participate.
  • In good general health with an ECOG performance status of 0 to 2 within the last 3 months.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Have had previous radiation treatment to the pelvic area.
  • Cancer has spread beyond the pelvic region.
  • Have active inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Unable to provide informed consent.
