The study aims to find out if a faster MRI scan using a contrast agent called gadobenate dimeglumine is as good as the standard MRI scan with gadoxetate disodium in detecting liver cancer spread from colorectal cancer. This could make the process quicker and easier for patients.
Description
The main goals of this study are:
- To compare how well a faster MRI scan using gadobenate dimeglumine detects liver cancer spread compared to other MRI scans, including the standard MRI scan with gadoxetate disodium.
- To measure and compare the quality of images produced by the different contrast agents, focusing on how well they highlight the liver and any cancer spread.
- To gather opinions from radiologists on which images they prefer when using the different contrast agents in the MRI scans.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Patients with colorectal cancer
- Aged between 18 and 80 years
- No previous treatments, including surgery
- Previous imaging suggests possible liver cancer spread
Exclusion Criteria
- Under 18 or over 80 years old
- Poor kidney function (eGFR less than 30 ml/min/1.73 m2)
- Previous allergic reaction to MRI contrast agents
- Claustrophobia or movement issues that could affect scan quality
- Implants or metal objects in the body that are not safe for MRI
