Study on Using Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) with Standard Treatment for Cancer That Has Spread

Inclusion Criteria

• Have cancer that has spread to other parts of the body, confirmed by imaging and lab tests.
• Types of cancer include:
  • Metastatic breast cancer (all types)
  • Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) without specific genetic changes
  • NSCLC with specific genetic changes that have worsened after initial treatment
• Can have newly diagnosed metastatic cancer or stable disease on treatment for at least 3 months.
• Must have measurable cancer with 5 or fewer sites that can be treated with SBRT.
  • Close lesions in the liver or lungs may be treated as one site.
  • Two connected vertebrae with cancer can be treated as one site.
• If other local treatments like surgery are more suitable, they may be considered.
• For new stage IV patients, the primary cancer must be treatable with local therapy.
• If the primary cancer was treated before, any new local cancer should be treatable with SBRT.
• May have had palliative radiation for symptoms before joining the study.
• Brain metastases must be treated before joining.
• Must be in good health with a performance status of 0 to 2.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be able to give informed consent.
• Women must not be able to become pregnant or must have a negative pregnancy test before starting treatment.
• Must have good organ function to safely receive SBRT.

Exclusion Criteria

• Have serious health issues that prevent safe radiation treatment.
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Have another active cancer within the past year.
• Have signs of spinal cord compression.
• Have fluid buildup in the chest or abdomen due to cancer.
• If joining the trial would delay necessary treatment.
