This clinical trial is exploring whether not including certain margins during radiation therapy affects the time patients with brain metastases remain free from cancer progression.

Program Overview

The purpose of this study is to find out if excluding specific planning target volume (PTV) margins during radiation therapy impacts the progression-free survival rates in patients with brain metastases. This means researchers want to see if this approach affects how long patients can go without their cancer getting worse.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Adults aged 18 and older with a good performance status and expected to live at least 3 more months.
  • Have a confirmed cancer diagnosis with 1 to 5 brain metastases visible on an MRI scan.
  • Brain tumors must be well-defined and measurable, with at least one tumor being between 1.0 cm and 3.0 cm in size.
  • Women who can become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test within 14 days before starting the study.
  • Must be able to understand and agree to sign a consent form.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Have certain types of cancer like germ cell tumors, small cell carcinoma, or blood cancers.
  • Have tumors in critical areas of the brain like the brain stem or near the optic nerves.
  • Have a condition called leptomeningeal disease.
  • Have had brain radiation therapy within the last 90 days or specific types of radiation to the same area before.
  • Have received chemotherapy or immunotherapy within 14 days before the study treatment, except for hormonal therapy. Certain breast cancer treatments are also restricted.
  • Cannot undergo MRI with gadolinium contrast due to medical reasons like allergies or incompatible medical devices.
