Program Overview
The aim of this study is to find out how often breast cancer returns and how long patients survive when they have early surgery for breast cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes. The study focuses on patients with a specific type of breast cancer (ER+/Her2-) and involves either a lumpectomy or mastectomy followed by additional therapy. This is a phase II clinical trial, meaning it is in the early stages of testing. Patients will be carefully selected based on specific criteria, and their health and treatment details will be recorded throughout the study.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Women aged 45 or older.
- Diagnosed with a specific type of breast cancer (T1-2N0 ER+ invasive).
- Cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, confirmed by a biopsy.
- Must be able to understand and agree to the study requirements by signing a consent form.
Exclusion Criteria
- Lymph nodes that can be felt during a physical exam.
- Breast cancer that is Her2+ or ER-.
- Cancer has spread more than 3 mm beyond the lymph node.
- More than two suspicious lymph nodes seen on imaging before surgery.
