Program Overview

The study focuses on children, adolescents, and young adults who need a stem cell transplant for certain blood disorders, both cancerous and non-cancerous. The stem cells used in the transplant will be specially prepared by removing certain types of T cells and B cells. All other treatments will follow the usual medical practices.

Description

Participants in this study will have specific blood disorders and will receive a stem cell transplant from a donor. The stem cells will be prepared by removing certain T cells and B cells to potentially improve the transplant outcome. Depending on the patient's condition and health, they will receive different levels of treatment intensity before the transplant. After the transplant, doctors will monitor how well the new cells grow, the balance of donor and patient cells, the recovery of the immune system, any signs of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), and the patient's quality of life.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Children, adolescents, and young adults aged 0-30 years with certain blood disorders.
  • Conditions include high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), certain types of lymphoma, bone marrow failure syndromes, and sickle cell disease.
  • Must have adequate organ function.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Females who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Patients with uncontrolled infections at the time of joining the study.
  • Patients with a performance score below 60, indicating poor health.
  • Patients who have not followed medical advice in the past.
  • Patients who have had a stem cell transplant from a donor within the last 6 months, unless it is a follow-up procedure.
  • Patients with active moderate or severe graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).
