Program Overview

The aim of this study is to determine if adding targeted radiation therapy to the liver, known as L-SABR, can enhance the effectiveness of standard drug treatments for people with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study is for patients whose cancer has spread to the liver and who are receiving standard immunotherapy and possibly chemotherapy.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) without specific genetic mutations or rearrangements.
  • Have newly diagnosed metastatic NSCLC with at least one liver metastasis.
  • Plan to start standard immunotherapy, with or without chemotherapy, for at least three cycles. This can include combinations of different immunotherapy drugs.
  • Have a performance status score of 0 to 2, indicating full activity or some restriction in strenuous activities.
  • Have liver function within specified limits based on blood tests.
  • Be eligible for the specific liver radiation therapy (L-SABR).
  • If HIV positive, must be on effective treatment with a stable immune system.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Have another cancer that could interfere with the study treatment.
  • Have had previous radiation therapy to the liver.
  • Have active Hepatitis B or C infections.
  • Be on medications that suppress the immune system or have an active autoimmune disease.
  • Be pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Not using effective birth control methods.
