Program Overview

The purpose of this study is to determine if a reduced dose of radiation therapy can effectively treat metastatic tumors in patients who have a genetic change called an ATM mutation. Researchers aim to identify the lowest possible radiation dose that remains effective in treating these tumors, potentially reducing side effects for patients.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • Have a confirmed cancer diagnosis with at least one tumor that has spread and needs radiation for symptom relief.
  • Have a genetic change known as an ATM mutation.
  • Be in relatively good health, with a performance status score between 0 and 2, meaning fully active or restricted in physically strenuous activity but ambulatory.
  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Be able to understand and agree to the study by providing informed consent.
  • If able to have children, agree to use effective birth control during radiation treatment.
  • Have an expected life expectancy of at least 6 months.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Have had previous radiation treatment to the area that needs treatment, which would make it unsafe to give more radiation.
  • Have serious health conditions that would make radiation treatment unsafe.
  • Be pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Have tumors in areas where the risk of disease progression is too high, such as the brain or spinal cord, or where giving more radiation is not possible.
