This study is testing if a special type of scan, called an 18F-DOPA PET scan, can help find and locate problem areas in the pancreas of patients with conditions that cause too much insulin, like congenital hyperinsulinism, Beckwith Wiedemann Syndrome, and suspected insulinoma. The study will also collect safety information.

Program Overview
The goal of this study is to see if an 18F-DOPA PET scan can successfully identify and locate specific problem areas in the pancreas of patients who have too much insulin, leading to low blood sugar. This includes patients with congenital hyperinsulinism, Beckwith Wiedemann Syndrome, and those suspected of having insulinoma. Finding these areas early can help plan surgeries to prevent further health issues. The study will also gather information on the safety of using this scan.
Description
Patients with low blood sugar due to too much insulin are at risk of brain damage. Early surgery can help prevent this. The F-DOPA PET scan might be able to find the exact spot causing the problem before surgery, helping doctors plan the surgery better.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Patients of any age with low blood sugar due to too much insulin, confirmed by a fasting test or response to a glucagon test.
- Patients who can have pancreatic surgery, even if they've had surgery on the pancreas before.
Exclusion Criteria
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Any major illness or condition that the study doctor believes would make participating in the study too risky.
- Patients who cannot have pancreatic surgery.
