Program Overview
The purpose of this study is to understand how the drug ALIMTA, alone or in combination with Cisplatin, affects patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma, a type of cancer affecting the lining of the lungs. The study will look at both the positive and negative effects of these treatments and aims to make ALIMTA available to patients who meet the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Have a confirmed diagnosis of malignant mesothelioma and are not eligible for surgery to cure the disease.
- Previous chemotherapy treatment for mesothelioma is allowed.
- Having a measurable tumor is not necessary to participate.
- Must be in good enough health to participate in the study.
- Must agree to and sign an informed consent form.
Exclusion Criteria
- Have taken any experimental drugs within four weeks before joining the study.
- Have received radiation therapy within the last two weeks.
- Are eligible for surgery that could potentially cure the mesothelioma.
